The Body Shop favourites: Part 1

Hello,

So sorting out my beauty items I just found a lot of The Body Shop products that I love and have repurchased many times. Hence I decided to do 5 best body care items from The Body Shop.

It was difficult to get down to 5 therefore I named this blog as part 1 so there will be others where I will talk about the makeup products as well.

Following are the products I have selected to review:

1. The Detangling comb
2. Retractable Blusher Blush
3. The Seaweed Purifying Facial Cleanser
4. Honey and Oat 3-IN-1 Scrub Mask
5. Duo Body Butter in Macadamia

1. The Detangling comb:

According to the website (TBS) it states, "Get uptight hair to cooperate with this gentle, wide-toothed must-have. Just make sure to always go gentle on wet hair."
I find the comb not only to detangle hair best but also helps out scrapping dandruff from hair. The wood really soothes the scalp when the itch gets unbearable with the dandruff. I have not found another bristle which will ease the problem. The brush is also good for the winter months keeping the static hair settled.

2. Retractable Blusher Blush:

It is a retractable makeup brush with a protective cap that is perfect for travelling. According to TBS the brush is equipped with:
-Super-soft synthetic hairs are long-lasting and specially cut to be extra gentle on delicate face skin.
-Flexible, round-shaped head is ideal for applying and blending powder.
-Removable cap protects brush hairs without leaving makeup residue in your purse or cosmetic bag.

The brush is expensive but worth every penny. It is soft like a baby's bottom and the application is best and makes a finish really flawless. The protective cap is best as the bristles are very delicate and will be safe when carrying the brush around in a bag. I have been using the brush for around 3-4 years and the bristles are still intact and the application is the same as new!

3. The Seaweed Purifying Facial Cleanser:

Description on TBS and the bottle itself: A mild, oil-free and soap-free milky cleansing lotion. Effectively removes make-up, impurities and daily grime, without drying the skin. Leaves the skin feeling cleansed, soft and supple with a shine-free matte finish.

I have combination skin hence my t-zone is oily and the rest of my face is dry. I love matte finish and this product serves every purpose written on it. You can feel your skin smooth and matte after cleansing. The scent is light and fresh. I always add this to my cleansing routine before big events, makes my skin refreshed instantly and makes makeup  glide on easily.

4.Honey and Oat 3-IN-1 Scrub Mask:

TBS detail the product cleanses, polishes and moisture normal to dry skin
-Gently removes dead skin cells
-Smoothes and refines
-Moisturises and conditions
-Weekly treatment
This product is great as it has oat and honey both are used for scrubbing purposes. The application is tricky though, you have to quickly take some product and start massaging into the skin starting from forehead to neck. Do not put little product all over face first and then massage, remember it is also a mask so it will dry making it difficult to scrub. Hence. a gentle scrub on face with this product goes a long way. Skin feels so supple after removing the product.
Always damp face with warm/hot water then apply the mask. Best use is before going for a wax appointment on the face and neck it makes facial hair soft and they pull easily. I always scrub my nose with this before removing black heads and get best results.
Just keep the mask for 10-15 minutes and wash.

 5.Duo Body Butter in Macadamia:

TBS suggests its best if you want to: moisturize your skin with this twin pot that contains two types of moisture: a light cream for where skin needs less hydration and a rich cream for drier areas like elbows and knees. It has a subtle nutty scent.
BEST FOR: All skin types
HOW IT WORKS: Provides 24-hour hydration Leaves skin feeling soft all over Subtle nutty scent.

The duo I find best for the summer months. There are times when the weather is very humid and sweaty and you would prefer the original body butter which is very heavy in consistency so the duo has a lighter option. My skin is very dry and I find this as one of the best treats for hydration I haven't found anything that keeps the moisture locked as the TBS body butters do. Over time you will find your skin becoming soft and having a bright sheen to it shows the skin is been taken care off. The macadamia one smells light nothing heavy but super moist even the lotion part is not very light.
One of the best sellers at TBS and a must have for everyone.

Nail Trend 2013: Lilac it!

Hello everyone,

Nails are an important part of every girl's beauty routine. Setting into my Sunday I wanted to start off my week by one of the biggest trends this season ,Yes lilac nails.

Essence-Ballerina Charm

This color is so feminine and adds chic and sophistication to any look.  In addition the color is such a break away from the bright and dark shades I've been trying. No one should be afraid to pull this color off as it looks best from the fairest to the darkest skin colored people including older and the younger generation.

I tried the lilac from Essence "Color and go" collection no.131 Ballerina charm. I added a twist by putting a coat of Sally Hansen "Sheerly Opal"on my toe nails which gave an extra Oomph. The Sally Hansen color is a pearly shade which came in  the French manicure kit.

The Essence color ranges are best and I found them to be the cheapest in the market. The lilac shade stays put very well for at least 2 days. I would recommend adding the top coat or just the "Sheerly Opal". Though the color is cheap in price but I found Essence colors hardly make the nails go yellow a concern when purchasing lower priced nail lacquers.

Also check out L'Oreal's Color Riche collection, Revlon and O.P.I for lilac shades.
Revlon(Lilac Pastelle),L'Oreal(Rose Bagatalle),O.P.I(Do you lilac it?)

Quick Tip: Lilac hardly has any restrictions it can be worn to important presentations (work/university), weddings, day events anywhere and everywhere!

Pastel hues are all the rage this summer from clothes to beauty items so pairing it up with other pastels colors or neon brights is not a problem at all.

Here are a few colors/looks lilac looks great with!

D.I.Y Winter/Summer face prep

Hello everyone!

Are you fighting dry skin or is your face complexion looking down because of the scorching heat? Lately mine was and I came across this amazing natural face moisturizer (you can call this something between a face moisturizer and facial from the salon!)

So I ran to my kitchen cabinets and  found the best ingredients olive oil and honey (pretty simple). Took 1 teaspoon of honey and a little less than a teaspoon of olive oil and mixed them together and gently massaged it on my face and neck (never forget the neck). In addition grab a small towel and soak it in warm water and place it on you face so the pores can open up to let the ingredients sink in. You can dab your the face with warm water before applying the mix to avoid the towel, either way is good!

I laid down for 15 minutes and by the time I was up my skin absorbed the mixture. I gently wiped my face with water only and voila my skin was soft and supple.

Among many benefits honey is known to have properties which helps to refresh and rejuvenate skin which is great for the hot summer months. Olive oil is an all rounder for the inside and outside. Consistent use of olive oil on the face can correct uneven skin tone as well.

Quick tip: best to do a night or even a few hours before an event. Skin will be so smooth which will make applying makeup very easy.

Take care and remember the simple things!
